Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)

Hi,

I've been working with VIsual Studio 2005 for a good few months now, and i've been working on macro's in Outlook to perform a task.

I've now come to try it out more professionally with the VSTO SE and now, whenever i attempt to open a 'New Project' Outlook Add-in, and everytime as it attempts to load, i get the following error with no other information:

Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))

I read another post of someone with the same error, but not in the same situation - and the solution was to re-install the 'Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components' but i had no such luck with this re-installation,

I'm getting the same problem ..... seems to happen with outlook 2003 (11.8118.8107) SP2 installed on windows XP SP2 using Visual Studio 2005 (8.0.50727.42)

have tried re-installing VSTO and still get the same problem.

well i thought that at first, but just to test what the problems might be i attempted to make a new excel add-in, then word add-in - still the same error so i'm thinking its either something with office 2003, or the VSTO its self. I'm installing the security updates and stuff now but i can't see it making a difference. If anyone knows i'd be eternally greatful!

It is important to make sure your office 2003 environment is fully .Net programability aware, one workaround albeit a pain, is to install the Office 2003 Pia's as a seperate download and then uninstall and reinstall the VSTO components,.

ok after installing the MSXML 6.0 Parser it works

the problem has gone completely i can now create plugins

woo hoo back to work.

Hi Mike,

I was experiencing the same problem as Jay; whenever I tried to create a new office project in VS2005 it returned the REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG error.

I tried reinstalling the PIAs and the VSTOSE but had no luck. Reinstalling Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 seemed to do the trick. MSXML can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1&displaylang=en
