I dont know if this is being posted in the right forum or not...I can't find any Vista Tech Support forums....but I installed Vista brand new on a computer i bought and I installed a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Sound Card and for a little while everything worked fine...I installed the drivers and everything. Now when I play music in Itunes or Windows Media Player the song plays for a little then starts sounding like its lagging, a skipping quality....I noticed its not just the music, but its all sounds on the computer....and then after a minute it just won't play music anymore....furthermore NO sound will play on the computer...if i restart the computer the sound comes back, but then after a minute or two the problem happens again. Any ideas

Are you sure that your sound card is Vista compatible I've read that Creative is planning to support that card under Windows Vista. Maybe it's not yet supported.. But try to find updates for your sound drivers compatible with Vista.

Hope this helps!

Yeah I'm having the same problem too, I have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, running Vista Home Premium (retail version), I think I have enough RAM (1.5GB), great CPU (Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Dual-Core), and eVGA GeForce 7900 GTO 512MB PCI-E graphics card. Everything was working fine under XP Pro, until I upgraded to Vista. I installed all the Vista drivers off from nVidia and Creative so it should be working fine but it isn't. I'm playing music on WMP and Winamp, or no matter what program. It will play for 30 secs or so, then it starts to lag (the whole system and the sound), then plays normal for a while, then does it again over and over. Is there a fix for this or anyone having the same problem Mines doesn't freeze up or restart to make it work again, it just does it over and over. Thanks in advance.

Same situation here, but even more dire. I have Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. After upgrading to Vista Business, I had sound. However, when I started up my laptop the second time, my laptop recognizes the sound card as a "phantom component". IT DOESN'T SHOW THE CARD AS INSTALLED!!! Weird thing is, D#ll had it intergrated in the laptop. If the new upcoming driver doesn't work, I might roll back to XP Pro. If push comes to shove, ya might have to do that too. Peace!

Haha, I already have went back to XP Pro. I always listen to music while I'm on the computer, so without it, it's just not going to work. I can't stand listening to music and then every 45 secs or so, it garbles up, I was freakin' pissed. But I mean, it's a new OS, so just gotta wait till they fix it with new drivers that actually works. Till then, I'm happy with XP Pro like MOST of us. Later.

here's how i fixed the problem. First completely uninstall any drivers for the sound card and make sure you completely uninstall the sound card so you have NO sound and your computer tries to find drivers....cancel it from finding drivers and go to the Audigy website. download and install the newest WINDOWS XP (yes XP) drivers....make sure once its installed in the control panel of the sound card you UNCHECK the "sync with control panel" box....if you do all this then your sound card should work fine.

Cool, thanks. I will try it when I have the chance to install Vista (again).
