    - Web Service Progress and Logging Hi, I've been trying to write a soap extension that allows me to log the raw soap traffic for a web service and track the upload/download progress. I've modified the code from this article... http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480520.aspx I have not problem with the response part of the message and I'm able to log it and give an update on the progress to the user. But when I try and do the same for the request part I run into errors. Essentially the stream that I get from the first ChainStream() call does not support reading. It throws an exception when I try to read it. The exception is: "The stream does not support reading." at System.Net.ConnectStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapExtensionStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count) etc. Any help would be appreciated, Colin Tag: XML and the .NET Framework disabling javascript + redirecting 2 another page .NET Development

    - ASP.NET PostBack simulation Hi, I would like to simulate a postback on an asp.net page. I explain myself, let's say i have a page with an asp "form" so the postback is performed on the submit button click with: _WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(...) -> __doPostBack(...) I would like to perform the same request but with an xmlhttprequest object. i found that, in fact, i need to send by post method the values of __VIEWSTATE, __EVENTTARGET and __EVENTARGUMENT. Actually i know that my eventtarget is the submit link name and the event argument is empty (in my case). The view state is an hidden field in the page. I understood that __VIEWSTATE contains the (serialized ) values of the active controls in the page, so by sending the viewstate the page will be able to find the values and perform the correct operations. So how is generated this field before the "send" operation If anybody knows it could really help me.     - Using Windows Auth in SqlServer Hi, I have SqlServer on one of the Network machine, on which I have Windows Authentication rights available. Now when I try to build Sqlconnection it gives me an error: "Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. " I have set the following attributes: persist security info=False; Trusted_Connection=yes" When I checked it somewhere I came to know that we must have SQL server and IIS Server on the same machine in order to build a sqlconnection using win auth..     - COMException Error:8000401a I have built an OPC client, which is started from a service, that will connect to an OPC server using COM interop. When the com-object is about to be created, by Activator.CreateInstance(Type), I get the following COMException when I'm connected to Windows Server 2003 via remote desktop. Exception Type: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException ErrorCode: -2147467238 Message: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {B6EACB30-42D5-11D0-9517-0020AFAA4B3C} failed due to the following error: 8000401a. If I log on to the server with "mstsc /console" everything works fine. Everything also works fine if I start the OPC client directly and not from the service.     - CLR naming conflicts I am looking for some documentation about the use of identifiers as names in CLR code, and when a name in a class conflicts with the same name of another identifier in the class hierarchy. Does anybody know where such documentation exists In particular, can the name of a property be the same as the name of a method in the class hierarchy of a class Obviously this sort of question can be extended to other CLR elements so I am trying to understand when an idenitifier conflicts with another identifier of the same name but a different CLR element.     - StreamReader.Read method fails for multi-part data transfer Hi all, I am trying to communicate with a server written in Java from .NET client app using sockets. Its working fine for last couple of years with .NET 1.1. Recently we moved to .NET 2.0 and Read method for the StreamReader starts failing in case of multi-part data transfer. Server sends data in chunks of 1024 bytes, all the chunks except the last one which is obviously less than 1024 are read.     - "Deserializing" XmlNode.OuterXml to object, then back to XmlNode questions My application provides a GUI for users to edit xml documents. The resulting documents are used by other automated systems following a shared schema. I figured I could cut down on the amount of code I have to write if I used XSD.EXE to generate classes for me to databind the xml to my winforms controls. The nodes in the document are originally created in code using a default namespace declaration which is explicitly declared on the DocumentElement. To edit the nodes, I "deserialize" the OuterXml property of the target XmlNode into the appropriate class created by XSD.EXE, and the user can modify the properties with databound forms. When they click "Save", my code serializes the classes to xml in order to load them back into the source XmlDocument. What I don't understand is why the resulting XmlNode that I import above explicitly writes the xmlns declaration to the file, even though the node doesn't have it before serialization, and since the default namespace declaration on the documentElement is in scope for all descendantelements. When I create the original node in the application, I pass in the correct namespace for schema validation, but it's never explicitly written to the nodes in the document--the declaration appears explicitly only once on the documentElement and nowhere else. Isn't there some way I can associate the namespace with these imported nodes without it explicitly redeclaring it in the output XML I know it doesn't hurt anything, but there are literally thousands of nodes in the source document, all of which will be edited by the user, and these unnecessary declarations actually have a significant impact on the size of the file (which can reach into the megabytes all by itself). Any space savings is significant to performance in a lot of ways, so any input would be really helpful. (Also, if anyone wants to suggest an easier way than using XSD classes to databind Xml to winforms controls, but that still benefits from schema constraints like XSD classes do, I'd definitely appreciate it.)     - Byte Array Xml Serialization Question My company is serializing an object that contains a byte array in C#. They use the XmlSerializer to write the object out to a file. My company has asked me to make a slimmed-down, unmanaged version of our product in C++ and I am trying to find out how to read back in the byte array that was serialized using the XmlSerializer. I need a solution that doesn't require changing the way we serialize the object. So, my questions are: 1. Is there a way to deserialize an object in unmanaged C++ 2. If not, does anyone know what algorithm is used to serialize a byte array to the output found in the xml It doesn't just print out the array of bytes, some sort of conversion is used that doesn't match directly to a byte array. That way I can reverse the process and recover the byte array from the serialized data.     - Round Trip with ILDASM ILASM fails for strong named assemblies Hi, I have written a little tool that does decompile an unsigned assembly and updates the assembly references with a predefined public key token. .assembly extern System.Management { .publickeytoken = (B0 3F 5F 7F 11 D5 0A 3A ) .ver 2:0:0:0 } I do simply insert inside every reference the .publickeytoken if not yet present. This way I can sign my assemblies whenever I want without any changes to my current project. It works very nice but for some reason I cannot use the Enterprise Library (Jan 2006) fully. I am even able to put them into the GAC without any problems. But somehow at run time the assemlby with a publicKeyToke=null is searched which should never happen. 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Logging, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' How is a type reference defined in IL Is the public key token stored in more location then in the reference meta data header I know that the InternalsVisibleTo attribute (when strong signed the public key must be added to the assembly name) may cause some trouble but in my test application it does work with and without this attribute as expected. I thought it would suffice to change the references and ilasm the .il file with the same public key to succeed. But under circumstances I cannot reproduce with a small sample application the assembly bind does search for an assembly with a null public key token. I am trying to redirect user to a particular page if javascript is not enabled…..i am using master page ……

Sometimes what happens when user logs in and after that he disabled javascript so I want to redirect him ….

I tried to use noscript tag

But in vs2005 it is not supporting meta tag ….saying meta tag cant be inserted in noscript tag ….also with form tag user get the choice to redirect himself or not….

This feature is perfectly implemented by yahoomail……do u hv any clue…
